Adoption Roulette at Theater for the New City
October 8th — 7:00 PM

ONE NIGHT PERFORMANCE — Adoption Roulette by Elizabeth Fuller and Joel Vig
Theater for the New City
155 1ST AVENUE, NYC 10003

Fourteen years ago, an incident happened which nearly shut down all Russian adoptions by American citizens. An ordinary Connecticut couple headed to Moscow to follow their dream of adopting a little girl. They soon found themselves trapped in a story which has all the elements of a Hitchcock thriller. This 90 minute true story moves from the streets of Moscow into the hinterlands of Siberia. The woman who lived through this has finally broken her silence and reveals the details of what happened.

As Mark Teitelbaum, producer of The Crazy Ones, has said, "This story is riveting from beginning to end.” A One Night Only reading of this work in progress is being performed by Elizabeth Fuller, Sachi Parker, and Joel Vig at the celebrated Theater for the New City at 155 1st Avenue in New York City at 7:00 PM on Monday, October 8th, 2018.

Elizabeth Fuller is the author of many best-selling books including—Me and Jezebel—the true story of Bette Davis moving in with Ms. Fuller in the 1980's. This book was transformed into a successful Off-Broadway play with productions around the country and around the world (15 countries) and is currently under option for a feature film. Sachi Parker, the only child of legendary show business icon Shirley MacLaine, is a celebrated actress in theatre and film. Joel Vig originated six roles in the original Broadway cast of Hairspray and created the starring role in the cult hit Ruthless! Vig has written theatre pieces for actors including Patricia Neal, Joan Copeland, Tammy Grimes, Jean Stapleton, and others for The Theatre Guild.

This play was chosen by Crystal Field, artistic director for Theater for the New City, for its powerful truth and unflinchingly timely importance. The Theatre Guild, producer of over 250 major Broadway plays, has chosen this new work to highlight The Theatre Guild Centennial in 2019. Philip Langner, President of The Theatre Guild, has called this play "as powerful as Judgment at Nuremberg and The Pawnbroker, two of the films he produced.
